The Lynchburg College softball team had three players honored recently with the release of the 2006 All-Atlantic Region team.

Junior Caroline Cubbage (Bridgewater, VA/Turner Ashby) and senior Brittany Edelen (Aquasco, MD/St. Mary’s Ryken) both were named to the first-team.

Cubbage, the 2006 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Year, hit a school-record 17 home runs with a .489 batting average. She posted on-base and slugging averages of .579 and 1.000 respectively, and had 57 RBI and 59 runs scored. Edelen, also a first-team All-ODAC honoree, hit .364 for the season with 11 doubles, six home runs, 37 runs scored and 44 RBI.

Sophomore first baseman Kirstin Swank (Bear, DE/Caravel Academy) received second-team All-Region honors. She hit her way into the starting lineup in early April and delivered seven home runs and seven doubles in just 85 at bats. Swank finished the season with a .353 average and a .706 slugging percentage, and also earned first-team all-conference accolades. .

Lynchburg finished 30-15 overall and placed second in the conference championship tournament.
