Dr. Casey Clabough, assistant professor of English, has been presented the James A. Huston Award for Excellence in Scholarship. The award recognizes a faculty member’s scholarly achievements while managing a demanding teaching load. Originally established in 1964 as the Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award, it was renamed in 1979 in honor of Dr. James A. Huston, dean of the College, 1972-84. Dr. Clabough joined the LC faculty in 2001. The author of numerous books, essays, and reviews on a wide range of literary topics, he recently was appointed Literature Editor of the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities' Online Virginia Encyclopedia.
Clabough also serves as a member of the Board of Contributing Editors for The Hollins Critic and as an Advisory Board Member for Southern Studies: an Interdisciplinary Journal of the South. He is the recent recipient of three competitive fellowships to support future research: a Lillian Gary Taylor Fellowship from the University of Virginia's Harrison Institute, a Visiting Scholar Fellowship from the University of South Carolina's Institute for Southern Studies, and a Mednick Award from the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges.
Dr. Clabough holds a B. A. degree from The College of William and Mary, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of South Carolina.
