A 1983 cum laude graduate of Lynchburg College with a double major in business administration and English, Marshall has been an active alumnus of the college, having served as chairman of the School of Business and Economics Advisory Board, a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors and a Reunion Committee volunteer. In 1995, Marshall received the M. Carey Brewer Award, which goes to an outstanding alumnus under 40 who has made significant contributions to society.
Marshall has worked at BWX Technologies in production control and human resource positions since 1984. His community service includes appointments by former Gov. Mark Warner to serve on the board of the A.L. Philpott Manufacturing Extension Partnership and the Virginia Community College System Board. He also chairs the Central Virginia Community College Board, the Region 2000 Workforce Investment Board and the Dance Theatre of Lynchburg Board.
His numerous awards include Lynchburg’s National Conference for Community Justice Humanitarian Award in 2005, the Book of Golden Deeds Award form the Exchange Club of Lynchburg in 2005,and the Big Brother of The Year award in 1994.
Marshall, who recently ran for Lynchburg City Council, is active in his Altha Grove Baptist Church, has a second-degree black belt in Taekwando, and enjoys sports and creative writing. He and his wife, Kimberly, have two children.
