The Lynchburg College Theatre and Music Programs will present Amahl and the Night Visitors on December 1 and 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Sydnor Performance Hall, Centennial Hall. Composed by Gian Carlo Menotti in 1951, the classic operetta is the story of a crippled shepherd, his poor widowed mother, and three mysterious visitors on their way to Bethlehem.

The performance will be directed by Dr. Oeida M. Hatcher, assistant professor of music and director of music education/instrumental studies, assisted by Jeff Wittman, professor of theatre.

A cast of 50 student and community singers, instrumentalists, actors, and dancers will be headed by 12-year-old Elizabeth Ferlise of Lynchburg, portraying Amahl; Dr. Carol Wilson Hill, adjunct voice professor at Lynchburg College, Amahl’s mother; LC students Matthew Johnson of Amherst, Derrick Thompson of Madison Heights, and Christian Kennedy of Washington D. C. as King Kasper, the Page, and King Balthazar; and Joshua Bell, minister of youth and education at Fairview Christian Church, King Melchior.
