Quakers Outscore LC Men 95-70

LYNCHBURG, VA – Senior guard Jordan Snipes scored a game-high 39 points Saturday - drilling nine three-pointers - as the Guilford College men’s basketball team defeated Lynchburg College 95-70 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

The Quakers led 41-29 at the break, but the Hornets worked back into contention at 65-58 with 8:32 left in the contest. Guilford blew the game open with a 19-3 run over the next four minutes to put the contest out of reach.

Freshman guard Steven Echols (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle) scored a team-high 20 points for LC, hitting four three-pointers. Junior guard Kwame Safo (Vienna, VA/George C. Marshall) added 15 points with five assists, and Danny Reed (Adamstown, MD/Tuscarora) and Drew Norris (Richmond, VA/Steward School) each had nine points.

Snipes hit 14 of his 20 shots from the field and nine of 14 three-pointers for Guilford (16-3/10-3 ODAC). Ben Strong had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Eric Belkoski had 14 points. The Quakers shot 58.8 percent (20-34) from the floor in the second half.

Lynchburg (6-15/3-11 ODAC) hosts Roanoke College next Saturday at 3 p.m. for another ODAC matchup.
