About Us
Lynchburg College students began participating in the sport of ice hockey in 2005-2006 under the direction of Randy Sulcer and Mike Mann. As it was not yet considered a club on campus, the group participated in a local men’s league at Liberty University’s LaHaye Ice Center without any school recognition or support.
During the 2006-2007 season, through the leaderships of Ryan Branigan, club president, and Mike Mann, vice president team became an official club on campus. During the 2007-2008 school year, the team competed in the Blue Ridge Hockey Conference, but this conference was not a good fit for the team.
For the last two years, the team has played in the men's league at Liberty University and finds this to be a better fit. Hornets Hockey has steadily gained recognition among students on campus since its inauguration in 2005.
