Randolph-Macon Defeats LC Men 70-66

ASHLAND, VA – The Randolph-Macon College men’s basketball team defeated Lynchburg College 70-66 Wednesday evening in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.

The Yellow Jackets started strong and led 37-20 at halftime. Randolph-Macon held a 50-36 advantage until LC started to chip away, but the closest Lynchburg could get was four.

Freshman guard Steven Echols (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle) scored a team-high 15 points for Lynchburg, while Drew Norris (Richmond, VA/Steward School) added 13 with three three-pointers. Evan Fancourt (Greensboro, NC/Grimsley) and Kwame Safo (Vienna, VA/George C. Marshall) each had 10 points and Danny Reed (Adamstown, MD/Tuscarora) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

David Carlson had a game-high 17 points with seven boards for Randolph-Macon (11-8/6-6 ODAC). Justin Short had 16 points and Phil Hawley posted 12 points and a game-high nine caroms.

The Hornets (6-14/3-10 ODAC) host Guilford College Saturday at 3 p.m. in Turner Gymnasium.
