Reports to...............Housing Coordinator/Director of Residence Life

Requirements........Bachelor's degree and significant experience in residence life.  Must be accepted and enrolled in graduate-level course work at Lynchburg College.

Responsibilities.....The Housing Assistant and Webmaster is responsible for assisting the Housing Coordinator/Office Manager with the day-to-day functions of facilities management including assisting with room changes and consolidation, and managing the keys, inventories, and the online systems associated with these functions. The Housing Assistant and Webmaster is also responsible for maintaining, updating, and enhancing the current Residence Life website using the Content Management System. This position also assists the Housing Coordinator with the management of the Office of Residence Life.

Remuneration.........Tuition remission - nine graduate hours per semester; a competitive stipend based on a 20-hour work week; professional development opportunities.

General Duties:  

  • Advise students on personal, social, and academic matters.  Make referrals to other offices and services of the College when appropriate.
  • Support the mission of Residence Life and Student Development.

Staff Support Duties:

  • Attend weekly Hall Director meetings
  • Attend residence life in-services
  • Act as a referral agent to students and staff as needed
  • Attend individual building meetings as needed.

Administrative Duties:

  • Assist the Housing Coordinator with the room change process
  • Assist the Housing Coordinator with the housing assignment/reassignment process
  • Manage the Residence Life website
  • Assist in the overall facilities management by managing keys and inventories
  • Coordinate walk-through schedules with Hall Directors
  • Assist the Housing Coordinator with  management of the office
  • Track and follow-up on work orders as necessary
  • Assist  in special office functions as needed
  • Maintain office hours.

Student Development and College-wide Duties:

  • Serve on College-wide committees when appropriate
  • Assist in all assessment efforts as dictated by the Office of Residence Life
  • Attend Student Development staff functions
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Residence Life Office
