Hornet Track Competes at Marietta

MARIETTA, OHIO – The Lynchburg College indoor track and field team competed Saturday at the Marietta College Invitational.

Junior Scott Decker (Clifton, VA/Robinson) provisionally qualified for national competition in the pole vault, clearing 15’ 5 1/2". Senior Ryan Holmes (Glen Allen, VA/JR Tucker) placed second in the long jump (21-08.75) and took fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (8.13). Robert Jackson ran a 36.66 in the 300-meter dash to place second, Earl Graves (Richmond, VA/Hermitage) was second in the 500 meters in 67.27 while Chris Irby (South Boston, VA/Halifax County) was second in the 800-meters (2:03.05). Chris Martin (Roanoke, VA/Patrick Henry) leaped 44’ 1 1/2" in the triple jump.

Senior Amanda Diver (Boxford, MA/Masconomet) finished third in the 800 meters (2:33.81) and sixth in the 500 (1:24.52). Mary Mohay (Fairfax, VA/Robinson) cleared 10-06 in the pole vault to finish third and Sarah Funderburke (Fredericksburg, VA/Courtland) was fifth in the 400-meters (1:00.73). Danielle Garofalo (Boxford, MA/Masconomet) placed sixth in the 300-meter dash in 47.35.

LC will compete next weekend at Liberty University.
