For immediate release – 1/20/2007 - #162 SALEM, VA – The Roanoke College men’s basketball team held Lynchburg College to just 17.5 percent shooting Saturday afternoon as the Maroons cruised to a 91-34 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory. The Hornets trailed just 12-7 after a pair of free throws from sophomore Sean Sutherland (Alexandria, VA/Commonwealth) at the 14:35 mark of the first half. The Maroons held LC scoreless over the next eight minutes and Roanoke took advantage with a 15-0 run and led 45-16 at the half. Freshman guard Brad Puffenbarger (Blue Grass, VA/Highland) scored a team-high six points, hitting two three pointers. Steven Echols (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle), Jason Early (Radnor, PA/Radnor), Danny Reed (Adamstown, MD/Tuscarora) and Jordon Masini (Midlothian, VA/Fork Union) each had four points. Tee Jackson scored a game-high 16 points for Roanoke (8-7/4-4 ODAC) on four of five three-point shooting and Zach Milton scored 15 points. The Maroons held LC to 10-of-57 shooting from the floor (17.5%) and four of 25 from three-point range (16 %). The Hornets (6-9/3-5 ODAC) host Washington & Lee University Sunday at 3 p.m. in another ODAC game. ### |
