Requirements........Master’s degree required; minimum of graduate-level experience in Residence Life, Student Affairs or related field required.
Responsibilities.....The Area Coordinator is a full-time (12 month) live-in position. Responsibilities include management and development of residential First Year Explorations program, coordinate in-services and staff training, and provide a professional presence on campus after hours. In addition, the FYE Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of three residence halls and their staffs and for the administration of the judicial process responding to low-level disciplinary violations by residential students.
Remuneration.........Position includes furnished apartment with utilities, meal plan, full benefits from the college (see below for details), and professional development opportunities.
Essential Duties:
1. Serve as a supervisor to the east side residence halls
2. Directly supervise Hall Directors of those buildings
3. Participate in the weekend on-call system.
4. Coordinate training and in-services for the Residence Life staff.
5. Coordinate RA of the Month program
6. Provide a professional presence on campus after traditional work hours.
7. Provide initial emergency support for residential students when appropriate.
8. Assist in day-to-day activities as needed in the Office of Residence Life including staff in-service.
9. Provide programmatic direction for the FYE program
10. Provide support to the staff and residents of east side residence halls
11. Performs other related duties as may be required.

Summary of Benefits for Full-time Staff Members
Medical Benefits Plan - CIGNA Healthcare group hospitalization insurance consists of hospitalization, surgical, and major medical coverage. The employee and the College share in the premium, based on your annual salary, regardless of the level of coverage selected. Persons may elect to begin coverage the first day of the month following the month of employment. A prescription drug plan is included in the coverage. There are two levels of coverage to choose from:
PPO300 - pays 80 percent in/out-of-network after meeting $300 deductible ($600 family) with a $2,000 maximum out-of-pocket ($4,000 family).
PPO1000 - pays 80 percent in/out-of-network after meeting $1,000 deductible ($2,000 family) with a $3,000 maximum out-of-pocket ($6,000 family).
Drug Co-Pays (both plans) $10/$30/$50
Dental Insurance - Dental insurance is available to the employee, as well as to family members. Premiums are paid through payroll deduction through the Flexible Benefits Plan. Current monthly premiums are:
Individual $ 32.25
Individual + Spouse $ 64.48
Individual + Children $ 80.65
Individual + Family $112.90
Flexible Benefits Plan - The benefits offered in this plan allow payment to be made for uninsured health-related expenses and dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars. Health insurance and dental insurance premiums may also be paid on a pre-tax basis under the Premium Conversion portion of this plan.
Retirement Plan - The College's retirement plan is funded jointly by contributions from the College and the employee. Contributions are vested immediately. With voluntary participation, plan contributions will be paid as a percent of base salary. If you elect to contribute to the plan, you must contribute 6 percent of your salary. The College will make a matching contribution of 9 percent of your salary to the plan. If you do not elect to contribute 6 percent of your salary to the plan and are under the age 26, the College will not make any contributions to the plan for you. Even if you have not elected to contribute 6 percent of your salary to the plan, upon your attainment of age 26 the College will make a 3 percent contribution, without requiring any contribution by you. There are three investment options available for employee contributions: TIAA/CREF, Fidelity Investments, and Pension Fund of the Christian Church. The College's contributions may be directed only to TIAA/CREF or to the Pension Fund of the Christian Church.
Supplemental Retirement Plan - Additional contributions above the basic plan (up to Internal Revenue Service limitations) may be invested by the employee in TIAA/CREF, Fidelity Investments, and the Pension Fund of the Christian Church.
Life Insurance - Group term life insurance is provided by the College at no cost to the employee and is effective the first day of the month following the month of employment. The coverage is an amount equal to 1 1/2 times annual salary, to a maximum amount of life insurance benefits of $300,000. Coverage reduces on a graduated scale after attainment of age 65.
Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance - Accidental death and dismemberment benefits are provided by the College at no cost to the employee and are effective the first day of the month following the month of employment. The coverage is an amount equal to 1 1/2 times annual salary, to a maximum amount of accidental death and dismemberment insurance benefits of $300,000. Coverage reduces on a graduated scale after attainment of age 65.
Disability Insurance -The College provides, at no cost to the employee, a long-term total disability policy which provides payment, after six consecutive months of continuous total disability, of a monthly income benefit which is equal to 60 percent of the monthly wage base, not to exceed a benefit of $10,000, less benefits received from Social Security and Worker's Compensation. In case of disability, a monthly premium waiver benefit equal to 15 percent of the base monthly salary will be credited to a TIAA/CREF retirement annuity.
Vision Care - A voluntary vision care benefits program is offered to all Lynchburg College employees and their families. This plan offers discounted prices on eye exams, frames, plastic lenses and lens options, and contact lenses. There is no cost to the employee or to the College for this program, offered by Drs. Newman, Blackstock and Associates.
Sick Leave - Short-term sick leave is self-funded by the institution for personal illness. It is available according to the following schedule: first year, two weeks; second year, four weeks; each succeeding year, four additional weeks, up to a maximum of thirteen weeks; and then additional four week increments at three-fourths salary for another maximum period of thirteen weeks. Three days per year may be used for illness of family members. The College will provide up to twelve weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave to eligible employees for certain family and medical reasons, in accordance with the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993.
Vacation - Staff employees are provided vacation benefits which are available during the first year of employment. Non-exempt positions are provided 10 - 20 days vacation, according to length of service. Exempt positions are provided 15 - 20 days vacation, according to length of service.
Holidays - Staff employees are provided eleven paid holidays, which include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following Thanksgiving, and seven days during the Christmas/New Years Season.
Personal Days - Staff Employees are provided two paid personal days.
Tuition Remission - Up to eighteen credit hours (undergraduate or graduate) may be taken at Lynchburg College on a tuition remission basis each year. Spouses may take a full academic load, 17 credits per semester, for undergraduate or graduate study. Dependents may take up to one hundred and thirty-six undergraduate credit hours at Lynchburg College. There is a one-year waiting period for eligibility for this benefit.
Moving Expenses - An allowance for reimbursement of moving expenses is available to new full-time faculty and designated new full-time staff, as outlined in the Moving Expenses Policy.
Admission to Fine Arts Programs, Lectures, and Athletic Events - Free admission to all special events is provided for the employee and members of the immediate family. A discounted rate is charged for all theatrical productions.
Social Security - The College and the employee share equally in the cost of Social Security contributions, as stipulated by federal law.
Worker's Compensation - The College pays the full cost of providing Worker's Compensation insurance to cover injuries that might occur while working on behalf of the College.
Unemployment Insurance - The College pays the full cost of providing Unemployment Insurance.
Employee Assistance Program - The College provides services of the EAP to assist employees and their families for resolution of personal problems which may be interfering with work or home life.
Credit Union - Full-time faculty and staff may participate in the Central Virginia Federal Credit Union or the KEMBA Roanoke Federal Credit Union. Payments to credit union accounts may be made through payroll deduction.
Meals - A discounted rate is charged to the employee and members of the immediate family for all meals in the College's Dining Room. An additional discount is provided to employees who pay for their meals using their LC Express (declining balance) account.
Bookstore Purchases - A 10 percent discount is provided on all purchases (excluding textbooks) in the Lynchburg College Bookstore.
Recreational Programs - Employees and their families are eligible to take advantage of all recreational programs offered on campus. This includes use of the Fitness Room, Outdoor Track and Tennis Courts.
Other Employment Accommodations:
Payment of Earnings - Unless otherwise stated, full-time faculty and exempt staff are paid in 12 equal installments, with payment of earnings issued on the last working day of each month. The first installment for an academic year will be issued at the end of July, and the last installment will be issued at the end of June. Full-time non-exempt staff are paid on a bi-weekly frequency, based upon the total hours worked as reported on an attendance record.
Direct Deposit, a special service that will deposit your earnings directly into your checking and/or savings account(s). Each payday, your bank account(s) will be credited as of 9 a.m., and you will receive through Campus Mail a pay stub telling you how much money has been deposited and other important payroll information.
Parking Permits - The College designates specific areas for faculty and staff parking. All employee vehicles must be registered with Security at the campus switchboard, and all operators of such vehicles are subject to campus traffic regulations. There is no charge for registration of vehicles.
Identification Card - All employees are required to have a Lynchburg College Identification Card. This card is useful for general identification purposes, and is required to be used when checking out books in the Lynchburg College Library, and for obtaining the employee discount in the Dining Room and Bookstore. Identification cards for family members may also be obtained by filling out a form in Human Resources and is handled at the Campus Information Center.
Mail Services - The Campus Mailroom, located in Burton Student Center, provides on-campus mail services for all employees and students. Window services are Monday through Friday as posted.
