Bridgewater Wins 75-57 against LC Women

LYNCHBURG, VA – The 19th-ranked Bridgewater College women’s basketball team forced 30 turnovers Saturday as the Eagles defeated Lynchburg College 75-57 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.

BC opened an early 30-7 lead and led by at least 13 points the rest of the game. Senior center Caroline Wesley (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame) scored 19 points and added nine rebounds for LC, hitting six of her eight attempts from the floor. The 19 points gives her 1,029 for her career, and moves her into fourth-place in the Lynchburg all-time scoring list. Abby Pyzik ’04 (in third place with 1,122 points) is less than 100 points away for Wesley, with 16 regular-season games left to play.

Freshman Kristina Darby (Tampa, FL/Holy Names) had nine points and six assists for LC, freshman Brittany Dahn (Glen Allen, VA/Deep Run) had eight points and a game-high 15 rebounds while freshman Dana Esposito (New Port Richie, FL/Holy Names) added eight points. Lynchburg out rebounded its guests 45-34.

Jessica Timberlake scored a team-high 16 points for Bridgewater (8-1/5-0 ODAC) and added five steals. Shannon Scales had 14 points and Katy Herr Lovell posted 12 points, seven assists and five rebounds.

The Hornets (2-7/2-3 ODAC) host Guilford College Tuesday at 7 p.m. in another conference clash.
