Marietta Drops LC 84-68

MARIETTA, OHIO – The Marietta College men’s basketball team shot 58 percent from the field Friday evening in an 84-68 win over Lynchburg College in the 36th Annual Shrine Tournament, hosted by Marietta.

The Pioneers led 10-9 early in the game and used a 14-1 run to take a 25-11 lead with 8:30 left in the half and held at least a nine-point advantage the rest of the way.

Freshman forward Danny Reed (Adamstown, MD/Tuscarora) scored a team-high 15 points and snared eight rebounds for Lynchburg. Steven Echols (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle) posted 14 points and four steals, and Drew Norris (Richmond, VA/Steward School) added 10 points. Marietta held Lynchburg to just 31 percent shooting (22-71) from the field, including a 26.5 percent mark in the first half.

Tyler Morando hit five three pointers en route to a game-high 19 points for Marietta (4-6), while Isaiah Creasap also hit five treys and finished with 15 points.

The Hornets (2-6) will play Olivet College (MI) Saturday at 2 p.m.
