| LC Cheerleaders Win Competition at Amherst - 2006-07 Spring Tryouts |
For immediate release – 12/12/2006 - #141 AMHERST, VA – The Lynchburg College cheerleaders competed in the American Cheer and Dance Competition held at Amherst County High School on December 2, hosted by the Central Virginia Rush All Stars. The Hornets performed a two-and-a-half minute routine showcasing a combination of cheer, dance, jumps, tumbling, and stunting skills. They competed in the open college division and won first place in the 25-team field. The team also received a bid to the Battle of the Capitol - the National competition for American Cheer and Dance held in Washington, DC. You must receive a certain score to receive a bid to the Battle. To my knowledge, this is the first time LC cheerleading has ever competed. The team consists of 16 members. They are Dan Hudnall, Derek Lynch, Mandy Wellman, Ashley Caldwell, Michelle Mori, Mona Carter, Karaugh Kochanowski, Brittney Bell, Heather Lacey, Mallory Rison, Brandi Ronnenberg, Allie Sypher, Trishia TenEyck, Ashley Waldron, Shannon Whisenant and Heather Wooldridge. Their next competition will be in February in Hampton, VA. ### |
