The Lynchburg College Men’s Lacrosse Team has announced its spring schedule for the 2007 season. This year’s highly competitive schedule includes three NCAA tournament teams from 2006—Ohio Wesleyan, Salisbury and Roanoke. The Hornets enter the season ranked 9th by Inside Lacrosse, and will face four Preseason Top-20 teams in 2007--#1 Salisbury, #8 Roanoke, #11 Hampden-Sydney and #16 Washington & Lee.

On Feb. 3, the Hornets will travel to Chapel Hill, NC to scrimmage Division I opponent North Carolina. Lynchburg will be the site of the Hornets’ final scrimmages of the spring, with LC facing Kenyon and first-year program Christopher Newport on Feb. 10.

Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007 will see the first regular season Men’s Lacrosse game played on the brand new Shellenberger Field, as Lynchburg takes on Haverford College. The $4.5 million renovation will include a FieldTurf playing surface, an eight-lane track, a new scoreboard, club seating, lights, and a new open-air press box. Shellenberger will next be host to Ohio Wesleyan University on Sunday, March 4.

Lynchburg will travel to San Diego, California for spring break to take on the Ursinus Bears. The game will be played Friday, March 9 at 8 p.m. at Westview High School.

The Hornets return to Lynchburg for a three-game home stand featuring the first home night lacrosse game on Shellenberger Field, March 14 at 7PM against the Wooster College Fighting Scots. LC opens its ODAC schedule March 17 against Virginia Wesleyan. March 21, the Hornets play host to the Trinity Bantams.

Lynchburg travels to Stevenson, MD March 24 to take on the Villa Julie Mustangs.

ODAC play continues March 31, as the Hornets play host to Roanoke College. This Route 460 Feud has become even more hotly-contested recently with one or both of these Division III rivals represented in each ODAC final game since 2003, with LC taking home two titles.

LC opens its April slate with a road contest against ODAC opponent Guilford on the 4th, followed by a home showdown against 2006 National Finalist Salisbury University. Lynchburg is on the road again at Randolph-Macon, April 14. Then, the Hornets are back home April 18 for Greensboro.

On April 21, Lynchburg College will officially dedicate the new Shellenberger Field, before the Hornets clash with Hampden-Sydney College in a 7 p.m. ODAC match up.

LC concludes regular season play with road contests against Marymount, April 25 and Washington and Lee, April 28.

The ODAC playoffs will take place on the first week in May with Semifinals to be played Tuesday and Wednesday and the Championship to be held that weekend. Lynchburg will be looking to win a third ODAC Championship in the last 5 years, and a berth in the NCAA playoffs for the 4th time in 5 years.
