The James A. Huston Excellence in Scholarship Award, established in 1979, is named in honor of James A. Huston, former dean of the College. It is given annually to one or more members of the teaching faculty of the College who has/have made noteworthy scholarly contributions to his/her field of endeavor. Any full-time member of the Lynchburg College faculty who has not received the award within the last five years is eligible. The award is presented at the Trustees Banquet in May.
The selection committee, composed of the last four recipients of the award, is chaired by the faculty member receiving the award at the earliest date. The committee will review all materials it receives and select the award winner for the current year.
Nominations for the award are invited from any Lynchburg College faculty or staff member. The nomination should address the nominee's scholarly work, collaborative work with students or other colleagues, recognition of scholarship and/or awards by his/her discipline or professional group. A current CV should be requested and accompany the nomination.
Send your nomination by e-mail to Dr. Sally Selden, chair of the selection committee, at the following address: hustonaward@lynchburg.edu.
The deadline for submission is the Friday before spring break. Nominations for this year's award should reach the chair of the committee by February 29, 2008.
