For immediate release – 11/21/06 - #125 LYNCHBURG, VA – Five players scored in double figures for the Ferrum College men’s basketball team Tuesday evening as the Panthers defeated Lynchburg College 66-57 in non-league play. The Hornets scored the game’s first seven points and led 18-8 with 12 minutes left in the half. Ferrum used an 18-9 run to trim the LC edge to just 27-26 at intermission. Lynchburg led 51-50 with less than eight minutes left to play, but managed just six points the rest of the way as Ferrum outscored LC 16-6 down the stretch. Sophomore Drew Norris (Richmond, VA/Steward School) scored a game-high 26 points, with five three pointers, and added seven rebounds. Sean Sutherland (Alexandria, VA/Commonwealth) scored seven points off the bench. Cedric Jones posted 11 points and 11 rebounds for Ferrum (3-0). Keith Harris and Jon Godsey each had 13 points and six rebounds, while Wayne Ford and Rob Fuller each had 11. Lynchburg (1-2) will travel to Averett University next Wednesday for a non-conference game at 7 p.m. ### |
