Roberts Wesleyan Downs LC Men 91-86

NEW WILMINGTON, PA – Roberts Wesleyan College (NY) defeated the Lynchburg College men’s basketball team Saturday 91-86 as Westminster College hosted the second day of play at the Buzz Ridl Classic.

Roberts Wesleyan was ahead 46-39 at the half, and led by as many as 15 points midway through the second period. Lynchburg cut the advantage to six with just over two minutes to play, bit could get no closer.

Freshman forward Danny Reed (Adamstown, MD/Tuscarora) had 16 points and seven rebounds while sophomore Drew Norris (Richmond, VA/Steward School) also had 16 points with five rebounds. Freshman guard Steven Echols (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle) scored 15 points and added five rebounds and Evan Fancourt (Greensboro, NC/Grimsley) tallied 13 points and four assists.

Benjamin Lewis had 21 points and eight caroms for the Raiders (1-1). Roberts Wesleyan enjoyed a 46-32 edge on the boards.

Lynchburg (1-1) hosts Ferrum College Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in Turner Gym.
