Four Hornets Earn All-South Region Field Hockey Honors
Morgan Crandall Garners First-Team Accolades

LYNCHBURG, VA – Four Lynchburg College student-athletes were named to the 2006 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-South Region team Monday, including senior midfielder Morgan Crandall (Belfast, ME/Belfast) on the first-team.

Crandall started all 21 contests this season and was fourth on the squad with seven goals and nine assists. She made all three of her penalty strokes, and scored one game-winning goal on the season.

Samantha Howard (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson), Ariana Kleeman (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) and Allie Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) all earned second-team honors. Howard, a junior attack, scored 11 goals and added an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) best 12 assists. Kleeman, a senior midfielder, had three goals and five assists in 21starts. Freshman attack Weir led the ODAC with 29 goals and 65 points and ranked second in goals and fourth in points in NCAA Division III.

The Hornets finished the season 18-3 overall, won the regular-season and tournament conference titles, and advanced into the NCAA Tournament.
