LC Field Hockey Falls 1-0 at Elizabethtown in NCAA Tourney

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA – The Elizabethtown College field hockey team scored five minutes into the second half and held on for a 1-0 win Wednesday afternoon against Lynchburg College in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Senior Laura Rinck scored the games only goal at 30:35 of the second half from Megan Angstadt and the Blue Jays turned away the Hornet offense the rest of the game.

Each team fired five shots on the afternoon, while Elizabethtown was awarded six penalty corners to Lynchburg’s three. Lynchburg had defensive saves from seniors Olga Ozarslan (Falls Church, VA/George C. Marshall) and Paige Bennett (Goshen, CT/Wamogo Regional).

Elizabethtown (16-5) advances to face the College of New Jersey Friday at 11 a.m. in Ewing, NJ.

The defeat stops a 13-match Hornet win streak and Lynchburg ends the 2006 season at 18-3 and ranked 20th in the nation.
