Lauren Askey and Casey Zambor Earn CoSIDA All-District Honors

LYNCHBURG, VA – Lynchburg College soccer players Lauren Askey (Baltimore, MD/Loch Raven) and Casey Zambor (Jackson, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) recently earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honors, as voted on by the Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Askey, a junior defender on the women’s team, earned a spot on the all-District first-team squad. An athletic training major with a 3.96 cumulative grade-point average, she has been a mainstay of the Hornet defense for three seasons. Askey anchored a backline that allowed just 11 goals in 18 games this year, and was recognized on the first-team all-conference, all-state and all-region teams in her freshman and sophomore seasons.

Zambor, a senior midfielder, was named to the second-team men’s soccer all-district academic squad. He has a 3.43 cumulative grade-point average with a major in environmental science and has started 12 matches and played in 17 this season. Zambor has four goals on the season, including the game-winning tally Saturday against Washington & Lee University in the semi-finals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament. The Hornets won the tournament and will compete in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament this weekend, facing North Carolina Wesleyan College Saturday at 5 p.m. at Virginia Wesleyan College.
