Lynchburg Men Defeat W&L 1-0 in ODAC Semifinals

SALEM, VA – Senior midfielder Casey Zambor (Jackson, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) scored mid-way through the second half Friday afternoon to give the Lynchburg College men’s soccer team a 1-0 win over Washington & Lee University in the semi-finals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament.

SALEM, VA – Senior midfielder Casey Zambor (Jackson, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) scored mid-way through the second half Friday afternoon to give the Lynchburg College men’s soccer team a 1-0 win over Washington & Lee University in the semi-finals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament. The Hornets will face #4 seed Virginia Wesleyan College for the conference title at 1 p.m. in Salem on Saturday.

Each team fired eight shots and was awarded four corner kicks. Junior goalie Marcus Jordan (Lynchburg, VA/Germantown) made two saves to preserve the shutout, while General keeper Ted Sheedy made three stops. The win is the eighth-straight victory for head coach Chris Yeager’s squad, while the Generals fall to 12-3-2. Lynchburg (13-4-2) defeated Randolph-Macon College 2-1 Saturday in overtime in opening round of the ODAC Tournament.
