EMU Defeats Hornet Women’s Soccer 1-0
HARRISONBURG, VA – The Eastern Mennonite University women’s soccer team scored in the first two minutes of the game Saturday and held on to defeat Lynchburg College 1-0 in the first round of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament.
Carrie Keagy scored just 1:57 into the game from Kelsey Yoder and the third-seeded Royals clung to the one-goal advantage for the next 88 minutes.
The Hornets out shot EMU 18-5, but Royal keeper Joy Shaiebly made nine stops to keep LC out of the net. Lynchburg also held a 14-7 edge in corner kicks.
The Hornets end the 2006 season with a 10-6-3 record, while Eastern Mennonite (13-4) advances into the semifinals of the conference tournament.
