Hornet Volleyball Wins Two on Senior Day

LYNCHBURG, VA – Lynchburg College volleyball defeated Mountain State (WV) University and Hood College (MD) Saturday in a tri-match, and honored the program’s two seniors on Senior Day.

Lynchburg beat Mountain State in five sets 28-30, 30-27, 30-26, 26-30 and 15-8 in non-conference play. Katie Warlick (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) had 24 digs and 14 kills, Amanda Walsh (Forest, VA/Heritage) had 17 kills and nine blocks, and Chelsea Jones (Richmond, VA/Monacan) had 14 kills. Carrington Cardwell (Gladys, VA/Rustburg) had 12 kills and eight blocks, and senior Jessie Bridge (Stuarts Draft, VA/Stuarts Draft) chipped in 12 kills. Dara Sandifer (Monroe, VA/Holy Cross) led the team in assists with 63 and Ashley Martin (Charlottesville, VA/West Albemarle) added 23 digs.

In the second match of the day, Mountain State overcame Hood in four matches 30-15, 28-30, 30-21 and 30-12.

For the final match, Lynchburg swept Hood 30-19, 30-22 and 30-18 in non-conference play. Senior Kate Bauer (Falls Church, VA/Bishop O’Connell) led the Hornets with 37 assists, while Martin added 17 digs. Warlick had 12 digs and seven kills and Jones added12 kills and eight digs.

The Hornets (17-12) will compete in the first round of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday. The opponent and game site is to be determined.
