LC Women’s Soccer Ties Methodist 1-1

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Lynchburg College women’s soccer team played to a 1-1 double overtime tie Tuesday at Methodist College in non-conference action.

Junior Erin Barry (Chester, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) scored the Hornets’ goal just before halftime from Emily Sledd (Mechanicsville, VA/Lee-Davis) and LC led 1-0 at the break. The Monarchs scored with 16 minutes left to play as Michelle Anderson knotted the scoreboard at one each.

The Hornets (10-5-3) out shot Methodist 16-11 while the Monarchs held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks. Amanda Evans made seven saves for Methodist (13-3-1) as Ashley Stern (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) made two stops for LC.

Lynchburg will compete in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship Tournament this week, with an opponent, site and game time yet to be determined.
