LC Field Hockey Upends Franklin & Marshall 3-1
Allie Weir Factors on All Three Goals

LANCASTER, PA – Freshman attack Allie Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) scored twice and added an assist Saturday as the Lynchburg College field hockey team defeated Franklin & Marshall College 3-1 in non-conference play.

Weir scored five minutes into the contest from Olga Ozarslan (Falls Church, VA/George C. Marshall) and assisted six minutes later on a tally by Samantha Howard (Fairfax Station, VA/W.T. Woodson). Howard fed Weir with eight minutes left in the first half to give the Hornets a three-goal cushion. Jess Senior scored for the Diplomats in the final minutes of the contest.

F&M out shot Lynchburg 22-19 and held a 19-11 edge in penalty corners. Senior Elizabeth Foskey (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) made 13 stops in net for LC. The Hornets have won eight-straight matches and haven’t tasted defeat for over a month.

Lynchburg (13-2) hosts Washington & Lee University Tuesday at 4 p.m. on Fox Field in a match-up of the top two teams in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). Each team is 7-0 in conference play – and the winner will enter the eight-team ODAC Tournament as the #1 seed.
