W&L Women’s Soccer Defeats Lynchburg 1-0

LYNCHBURG, VA – Roz Klann scored the game’s only tally to give the Washington & Lee University women’s soccer team a 1-0 win over Lynchburg College Wednesday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match.

Klann scored from Marisa Van Brunt at the 33:43 mark of the first half, and the General defense remained un-scored on in the 2006 season. W&L keeper Kiki Moreo stopped five Hornet shots, while LC sophomore net minder Ashley Stern (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) made four saves.

Each team fired 10 shots, while Washington & Lee held a 6-5 edge in corner kicks. The Hornets had two corner kicks in the final minutes, but couldn’t capitalize on the opportunities. The Generals improve to 13-0-2 overall and 7-0-2 in the ODAC, posting 15-straight shutouts.

Lynchburg (10-5-1/6-4 ODAC) closes out its regular-season home slate Saturday, hosting Virginia Wesleyan College at 1 p.m. on the Faculty Drive Fields.
