Hornet Cross Country Competes in Florida and Pennsylvania

STETSON, FL & GETTYSBURG, PA – The Lynchburg College cross country team headed in separate directions over the Fall Break weekend, with the men’s team traveling to Florida and the women’s team heading north to Pennsylvania.

The Hornet men competed in the Stetson University Invitational Friday, placing fourth in the 16-team field. Sophomore Jeremy Falke (Ashland, VA/Patrick Henry) paced LC with a second-place finish in 27:20, followed by Patrick Jacobs (Bloomingdale, NJ/Butler) in 12th in 29:01. Chris Irby (South Boston, VA/Halifax County) was 20th (29:45), Kevin Peggs (Richmond, VA/Monacan) took 28th (30:16) and Ryan Call (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) placed 33rd in 30:40.

The LC women’s team competed in the Gettysburg Invitational Saturday, taking 13th in the 19-school field. Senior Ashley Armistead (Forest, VA/Jefferson Forest) led the Hornets in 25:20, placing 57th. Megan Donnelly (McLean, VA/McLean) was 71st in 25:47, Shelby O’Rourke (Bay Shore, NY/West Islip) was 90th in 26:47 and Emily Gannon (Ardmore, PA/Haverford) was 111th in 27:34. C.C. Capranica (St. Michaels, MD/Easton) was 124th in 28:17.
