LC Volleyball Splits Two Matches at Mary Baldwin Tourney
STAUNTON, VA – The Lynchburg College volleyball team split a pair of non-conference matches Saturday on the second day of play at the Mary Baldwin College Mizuno Fighting Squirrel Showdown.
Katie Warlick (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) posted 14 kills and 11 digs as the Hornets defeated the College of Notre Dame (MD) 30-11, 30-21, 30-17. Chelsea Jones (Richmond, VA/Monacan) had 11 kills and six digs, Carrington Cardwell (Gladys, VA/Rustburg) had 10 kills while Dara Sandifer (Monroe, VA/Holy Cross) distributed 23 assists. Kate Bauer (Falls Church, VA/Bishop O’Connell) had 17 assists and Ashley Martin (Charlottesville, VA/Western Albemarle) had 15 digs.
Mary Baldwin upended LC 24-30, 31-29, 30-24, 30-27 in the Hornets’ final match of the Showdown. Cardwell had 11 kills and eight blocks, while Warlick, Jones and Amanda Walsh (Forest, VA/Heritage) each drilled nine kills. Sandifer tallied 34 assists and 13 digs and Martin had 28 digs.
Lynchburg (9-12) travels to Eastern Mennonite University Tuesday for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match at 6:30 p.m.
