Hornet Cross Country Races at Va. State Meet

PENN LAIRD, VA – The Lynchburg College men’s cross country team won the Virginia State Meet on Saturday, while the Hornet women took fifth. Eastern Mennonite University hosted the race at Peak View Course at the Burtner Farm.

Sophomore Jeremy Falke (Ashland, VA/Patrick Henry) paced the LC men with a sixth-place finish in 28:18, with Ryan Call (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) in seventh in 29:07. Matt Carlton placed 10th in 29:29, Pat Jacobs (Bloomingdale, NJ/Butler) was 12th in 29:40, Bryan Kirby (Alexandria, VA/Edison) finished 19th in 30:26 and Joe Tyvela (Damascus, MD/Damascus) took 23rd in 31:01.

Senior Ashley Armistead (Forest, VA/Jefferson Forest) was 16th overall in the women’s field of 87 runners in 27:08. Megan Donnelly (McLean, VA/McLean) finished 23rd in 27:59, Shelby O’Rourke (Bay Shore, NY/West Islip) was 24th in 28:06, Emily Gannon (Ardmore, PA/Haverford) took 38th in 29:41 and C.C. Capranica (St. Michaels, MD/Easton) was 45th (30:17).

Lynchburg will compete at the Stetson Invitational (FL) next Friday at 4 p.m.
