Kim Vaughan Scores Twice as Lynchburg Defeats Sweet Briar 3-0

AMHERST, VA – Kim Vaughan (Baltimore, MD) scored two goals to lift the Lynchburg College women’s soccer team over Sweet Briar College 3-0 Saturday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.

Vaughan opened the scoring in the 24th minute on a penalty kick, and Audrea Hamby (Lutherville, MD) tacked on another goal in the 25th minute off a Siobhan Budine (Sherburne, NY) pass. Vaughan added on an insurance goal to secure the win in the 61st minute for the Hornets off a Sara Butsavage (Virginia Beach, VA) pass.

Lynchburg out shot Sweet Briar (2-9/0-6 ODAC) 23-1 and also enjoyed an 8-3 edge in corner kicks. Kristen Johnson recorded five saves for Sweet Briar.

Lynchburg (9-3-1/5-2 ODAC) returns to action on the road Wednesday against Randolph-Macon College at 4 p.m. in an ODAC game.
