For immediate release – 10/4/2006 - #064 Hornet Golf Leads So. Virginia Tourney ROANOKE, VA – The Lynchburg College golf team led the field after one day of play at the Southern Virginia University Tournament. The opening day was held at the par 73 Ashley Plantation Golf Course. Sophomore Ryan White (Round Hill, VA/Loudoun Valley) fired a team-low 75, while Will Dickey (Charlottesville, VA/Western Albemarle) fired a 77 and Jason Early (Radnor, PA/Radnor) and Thomas Pitts (Tallahassee, FL) each shot 79s. Lynchburg fielded two teams at the tournament, as Michael Butzgy (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) paced the ‘red’ team with a 74. The ‘white’ team led the event with a team score of 310 while the ‘red’ unit had 317 overall. The second and final day of play will be Thursday at the Vista Links Golf Course in Buena Vista, VA. ### |
