Shannon Kennedy Scores Five as LC Field Hockey Wins 12-0 over R-MWC

LYNCHBURG, VA – Junior attack Shannon Kennedy (Dumfries, VA/Forest Park) scored five times Wednesday as the Lynchburg College field hockey team defeated Randolph-Macon Woman’s College 12-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

Freshman attack Allie Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) netted three first-half tallies to help the 20th-ranked Hornets to a 5-0 halftime edge, and LC never looked back. Junior Samantha Howard (Fairfax Station, VA/W.T. Woodson) had a goal and two assists, Cassie Westman (Centreville, MD/Queen Anne’s) posted a goal and an assist and Rachel Sherman (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton) and Laura Christianson (Virginia Beach, VA/Tallwood) also scored. Erin Funkhouser (Natural Bridge, VA/Menchville) assisted on three scores while Ariana Kleeman (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) had two assists.

Lynchburg out shot the WildCats (3-5/0-3 ODAC) 39-2 on the afternoon.

The Hornets host Washington & Lee University Saturday at 1 p.m. in another ODAC match-up as part of Homecoming weekend
