Lynchburg College Nabs Two ODAC Athletes of the Week

SALEM, VA – Two Lynchburg College student-athletes were named Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Athletes of the Week for the week of October 2.

Sophomore Amanda Walsh (Forest, VA/Heritage) was named the ODAC Volleyball Player of the Week. The 6-1 middle hitter led LC to wins in both of its ODAC matches last week, and a 2-1 overall record. She smashed 14 kills with just two errors and added nine blocks in a four-set win at Emory & Henry College Tuesday. Walsh had 15 kills in a five-game win against Randolph-Macon College Saturday and posted 16 kills and five blocks in a tough five-set loss to Averett University.

Senior Laura Christianson (Virginia Beach, VA/Tallwood) earned the conference’s Field Hockey Player of the Week honor after helping the Hornets to a pair of ODAC wins last week. The senior attack scored the game winner with 15 minutes left to give LC a 2-1 win at Randolph-Macon College on Tuesday and assisted on Lynchburg’s other score. Christianson added another goal Saturday as LC defeated Virginia Wesleyan College 4-2.
