Guilford Defeats LC Women’s Soccer 1-0

GREENSBORO, NC – The Guilford College women’s soccer team defeated Lynchburg College 1-0 Friday afternoon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match.

Rachel Gwin scored the game’s only goal two minutes after halftime on a feed from Jennah Carter. The Hornets out shot the Quakers 9-5, but Guilford (7-3/5-1 ODAC) keeper Veronica Zych made three stops to preserve the shutout. The victory was Guilford’s first over Lynchburg since the 1990 campaign.

The Quakers enjoyed a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. Junior Ashley-Taylor Fuller (Mt. Holly, NJ/Roncocas Valley Regional) made two saves in the Hornet net.

Lynchburg (6-3-1/3-2 ODAC) hosts Greensboro College Sunday at 2 p.m. in a non-conference game on the Faculty Drive Fields.
