Annual Scholarship Competition
Rich in the tradition of superior scholarship, leadership, and community service, the College celebrates more than 100 years of developing well-rounded graduates who serve as active participants in the global society.
Therefore, Lynchburg College proudly presents its Annual Scholarship Competition to recognize the achievements of those students who excel in the Lynchburg College traditions of scholarship, leadership, and community service.
- The deadline to apply for the 11th Annual Scholarship Competition is January 6.
The Scholarships
$1,500, $3,000, and $5,000 awards
($6,000, $12,000, and $20,000, four-year totals respectively)
The Guidelines
- Only students who have been admitted to the College are eligible to compete, so complete your admissions application soon! You do not have to be admitted in order to apply for the competition, but you must be admitted in order to be invited to the competition.
- Completed admissions application (including transcripts and test scores) and competition application must be submitted for the competition. Applications can be mailed to Lynchburg College, Office of Enrollment Services, 1501 Lakeside Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24501. You can also submit a competition application online.
- Applicants must submit the name of a reference who is a teacher, guidance counselor, or community leader, and students are encouraged to submit an example of achievement from their junior or senior year.
- Students invited to compete must participate in the on-campus competition (no exceptions). The competition will include an interview with a faculty member and a timed hand-written essay.
- Four competition dates are scheduled. Once invited to compete, students must R.S.V.P. by the deadline listed on their competition invitation.
- Scholarship award notifications will be mailed.
