Christopher Newport Tops LC Women’s Soccer 2-0

Lynchburg, VA – Emily Renkin scored two goals in the first half to lift visiting Christopher Newport to a 2-0 win over the Lynchburg College women’s soccer team on Sunday in a non-conference match up on a wet and rainy day.

Renkin scored 6:12 into the game on an unassisted 30-yarder. She tacked on another goal 41:31 into the game off a penalty kick. Ashley-Taylor Fuller (Mt. Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley Regional) made three saves for the Hornets.

LC held an 8-7 advantage in shots, but could only muster two shots on goal, while also holding a 2-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Hornets (6-1-1/3-0 ODAC) travel to face the Roanoke College Maroons on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in an Old Dominion Athletic Confernece match up.
