Roanoke Scores in OT to Top LC Men’s Soccer 2-1

LYNCHBURG, VA – Nuwo Johnson scored just under seven minutes into overtime to lift the Roanoke College men’s soccer team to a 2-1 win at Lynchburg College Saturday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.

Junior midfielder Phil Francois (West Windsor, NJ/Princeton) scored an unassisted goal at the 33:53 mark to give LC a 1-0 lead. Michael Rouhana answered back 10 minutes later and the game remained tied until the overtime period. Johnson corralled a loose ball about 15 yards from the Hornet net and ended the contest at 96:45.

Lynchburg out shot Roanoke 13-6 and Roanoke held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks. Austin Rose made two saves for the Maroons (2-4-1/1-0 ODAC) while Marcus Jordan (Lynchburg, VA/Germantown) also made two stops.

The Hornets (5-3/1-1 ODAC) travel to Eastern Mennonite University for another ODAC contest at 7 p.m.
