Allie Weir Scores Four as Hornet Field Hockey Wins 5-0 Over Bridgewater

LYNCHBURG, VA – Freshman Allie Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) scored four goals and assisted on the fifth tally as the Lynchburg College field hockey team defeated Bridgewater College 5-0 Saturday in an Old Dominion Athletic conference (ODAC) match.

Weir opened the scoring midway through the first half, assisted by Samantha Howard (Fairfax Station, VA/W.T. Woodson). The two reversed roles over two minutes later as Weir found Howard, and Weir scored with 34 seconds left in the half from Carter Maxey (Midlothian, VA/James River) to give LC a 3-0 halftime edge. Weir added two insurance goals in the second half, one on an assist from Howard, to put the game away.

The Hornets out shot the Eagles 32-4, and Elizabeth Sullivan made 13 stops for Bridgewater (1-7/1-2 ODAC).

Lynchburg (7-2/3-0 ODAC) travels to Randolph-Macon College Tuesday for another conference clash at 4 p.m.
