Lynchburg Field Hockey Defeats Shenandoah 5-0

LYNCHBURG, VA – Laura Christianson (Virginia Beach, VA/Tallwood) and Allie Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) each scored twice Friday afternoon as the Lynchburg College field hockey team defeated visiting Shenandoah University 5-0.

Christianson, a senior attack, scored the first two goals of the game on assists from Jessi Bowman (Midlothian, VA/Clover Hill) and Morgan Crandall (Belfast, ME/Belfast). Weir, a freshman, scored two unassisted goals within a 45-second span to put LC up 4-0 late in the first half. Freshman Erin Funkhouser (Natural Bridge, VA/Menchville) scored an insurance goal from Erin Majerowicz (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) in the second half.

Lynchburg out shot Shenandoah 22-4 and had a 9-8 edge in penalty corners. Wendy Taylor made nine stops for Shenandoah (2-3).

The Hornets (6-2) host Bridgewater College Saturday at 1 p.m. on Fox Field.
