Jessi Bowman Pushes LC Field Hockey Past St. Mary’s 1-0 in OT

ST. MARY’S MD – Junior midfielder Jessi Bowman (Midlothian, VA/Clover Hill) scored 2:19 into overtime to lift the Lynchburg College field hockey team to a 1-0 win at St. Mary’s College Sunday afternoon.

The Hornets out shot the Seahawks 26-12 but couldn’t capitalize until senior midfielder Morgan Crandall (Belfast, ME/Belfast) centered the ball to Bowman to end the game. Lynchburg also had a 16-5 edge in penalty corners.

Hornet goalie Elizabeth Foskey (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) earned the win for LC and made four saves. Emily Richards recorded 10 saves for the Seahawks (4-2), who had a four-match win streak broken.

Lynchburg (5-1) travels to Christopher Newport University Wednesday at 4 p.m. for a non-conference match.
