Cubbage, a junior outfielder last spring, led the nation with 17 home runs in 44 games (0.39 HR per game), outdistancing Laura Fencik from Arcadia (0.38). She ranked third in Division III in slugging percentage (1.031) and runs per game (1.34), 12th in batting average (.504), 14th in runs batted in per game (1.3), 24th in walks per game (0.64) and 48th in doubles per game (0.36).
"Caroline is a very talented athlete who has worked hard in her three years at Lynchburg," said Lynchburg head coach Dawn Simmons. "I am very proud of her team and individual accomplishments over the years. I feel she has even more to bring to the team this year with her talents and dedication."
The Hornets finished 30-15 in 2006 and took second in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament as Cubbage was named a first-team NCAA First-Team All-American. She also was named the state and ODAC Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Atlantic Region first team.
