#5 York Defeats LC Men’s Soccer 1-0

YORK, PA – The Lynchburg College men’s soccer team played even with the fifth-ranked team in NCAA Division III for 70 minutes Wednesday, but York College scored a late goal to hand the Hornets their first loss of the season, 1-0.

The Hornets (4-1) out shot the Spartans 10-9 for the contest, but York’s Andrew Wheeler scored a breakaway goal at 69:36 to give the host team all the scoring it would need. Justin Suchoski assisted on the tally.

Lynchburg also held a 9-5 edge in corner kicks. Marcus Jordan (Lynchburg, VA/Germantown) made two stops for LC, while York’s Kyle Marks made three stops to preserve the shutout. The Spartans improve to 4-0-1 on the season, and have a 21-match unbeaten streak.

LC will host Emory & Henry College Friday night at 7 p.m. at Liberty University in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match-up.
