LC Women’s Soccer Scores Late Twice to Beat Emory 2-0

GREENSBORO, NC – The Lynchburg College women’s soccer team scored twice in the game’s final seven minutes to defeat Emory University (GA) 2-0 in the Guilford College Classic.

Each team fired six shots in the scoreless first half, and the game remained 0-0 until senior Sara Butsavage (Virginia Beach, VA/First Colonial) scored on a corner kick at the 83:45 mark from freshman Ashley Hoath (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon). Lynchburg struck again less than two minutes later as Audrea Hamby (Lutherville, MD/Towson) scored an insurance goal on a crossing pass from Siobhan Budine (Sherburne, NY/Sherburne-Earlville).

Junior keeper Ashley-Taylor Fuller (Mt. Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley) made four saves to post her third shutout of the season. Emory (1-2) held a 12-11 edge in shots and a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.

The Lynchburg (3-0-1) travels to Bridgewater College Saturday for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match-up at 1 p.m.
