LC Women’s Soccer Defeats Chowan 3-1

GREENSBORO, NC – The Lynchburg College women’s soccer team defeated Chowan College (NC) Saturday 3-1 in the first day of play at the Guilford College Tournament.

Senior Sara Butsavage (Virginia Beach, VA/First Colonial) opened the scoring in the first half, and Ashley Hoath (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon) followed with a tally from Melanie Chidester (Fairfax, VA/Robinson) to take a 2-0 lead. Chowan scored before halftime, but Melissa Miller (Waretown, NJ/Southern Regional) added an insurance goal, also assisted by Chidester.

The Hornets (2-0-1) out shot Chowan 12-2 and held an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.

Lynchburg will face Emory (GA) Sunday at 1 p.m.
