Hornet Cross Country Competes at Va. Tech

BLACKSBURG, VA- The Lynchburg College men’s and women’s cross country teams competed Saturday morning at the Virginia Tech Invitational, with the men placing second and the women taking third.

Sophomore Jeremy Falke (Ashland, VA/Patrick Henry) led the men’s team with a third-place finish in 20:37 on the 6K course, followed by Ryan Call (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) in ninth in 21:30. Patrick Jacobs (Bloomingdale, NJ/Butler) was 13th in 22:04, Bryan Kirby (Alexandria, VA/Edison) took 19th in 22:12 while Chris Irby (South Boston, VA/Halifax County) was 23rd in 23:28.

Senior Ashley Armistead (Forest, VA/Jefferson Forest) finished 11th for the Hornet women in the 4K race. Megan Donnelly (McLean, VA/McLean) finished 15th in 18:34, Shelby O’Rourke (Bay Shore, NY/West Islip) was 19th in 18:59, Ellen Hartge (Fairfax, VA/Chantilly) placed 22nd in 19:30 and Whitney Markey (Montpelier, VA/Louisa County) was 23rd in 19:40.

The Hornets travel to the New York Invitational next weekend.
