Field Hockey Defeats Sweet Briar 7-0

SWEET BRIAR, VA – Senior attack Laura Christianson (Virginia Beach, VA/Tallwood) scored three times Thursday as the Lynchburg college field hockey team defeated Sweet Briar College 7-0 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest.

Christianson scored 10 minutes into the first half, and netted two additional tallies as the Hornets breezed to a 4-0 halftime edge. Jessi Bowman (Midlothian, VA/Clover Hill), Melissa Seipel (Gloucester, VA/ Gloucester), Rachel Sherman (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton) and Allie Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) each had a goal, while Samantha Howard (Fairfax Station, VA/W.T. Woodson) had a pair of assists.

Lynchburg (2-1/1-0) travels to McDaniel College (MD) Sunday for a non-conference match at 1:30 p.m.
