Hornet Volleyball Splits Two Matches at Averett Tourney

DANVILLE, VA – The Lynchburg College volleyball team split two non-conference matches Sunday on the final day of the Averett University Tournament.

Averett beat Lynchburg in the first match 22-30, 30-27, 30-23, 30-25.

Junior Katie Warlick (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) had 12 kills and 14 digs, Dara Sandifer (Monroe, VA/Holy Cross) had 40 assists and six digs, Chelsea Jones (Richmond, VA/Monacan) had 12 kills and eight digs and Ashley Martin (Charlottesville, VA/Western Albemarle) added 20 digs.

The Hornets defeated Mary Baldwin College 30-27, 30-23, 30-26 behind seven kills and seven digs from Jones. Sandifer tallied 23 assists and Martin had 12 digs against the Fighting Squirrels.

Lynchburg (1-3) will compete Friday and Saturday at the Greensboro Tournament.
