Howard Scores Twice as LC Field Hockey Defeats Frostburg 3-2

LONGWOOD, VA – Junior Samantha Howard (Fairfax Station, VA/W.T. Woodson) scored two second-half goals to give the Lynchburg College field hockey team a 3-2 comeback win over Frostburg State University Sunday in a game played at Longwood University.

Senior Laura Christianson (Virginia Beach, VA/Tallwood) scored an unassisted goal late in the first half and Frostburg State entered intermission with a 2-1 lead. Howard tied the contest eight minutes after the break, assisted by Morgan Crandall (Belfast, ME/Belfast) and scored again with 15 minutes remaining from Christianson.

Amanda Griswold and Kelly Filipowicz each scored for Frostburg State (0-1). Lynchburg held advantages of 28-11 in shots and 11-5 in penalty corners over the Bobcats.

Lynchburg (1-1) travels to Sweet Briar College Thursday for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match at 4:30 p.m.
