Hornet Volleyball Opens Season at Averett Tourney

DANVILLE, VA – The Lynchburg College volleyball team lost a pair of matches Saturday at the two-day Averett University Tournament.

The Hornets lost the opening match in five sets to Greensboro College. Junior outside hitter Katie Warlick (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) posted 14 kills and 16 digs, Dara Sandifer (Monroe, VA/Holy Cross) had 43 assists and six digs while Carrington Cardwell (Gladys, VA/Rustburg) had 11 kills and five blocks.

Maryville College (TN) upended LC 30-16, 30-24, 30-15. Chelsea Jones (Richmond, VA/Monacan) tallied eight kills and seven digs and Ashley Martin (Charlottesville, VA/Western Albemarle) had 14 digs.

The Hornets will play two more matches on Sunday at Averett.
